[Isehan] Experience the Beauty of Beni at the Beni Museum’s 20th Anniversary Event
2025.02.25
FASHIONThe Beni Museum, located on Kotto Dori (“Antique Street”) in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo, celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2025. Founded by Isehan—Japan’s last remaining beni (traditional red pigment) maker, with a history dating back to the Edo period—the museum showcases the art of beni-making and the history of Japanese cosmetics. Visitors can explore exhibits, learn about traditional beauty culture, and experience the elegance of beni firsthand.

On Saturday, March 1, the museum will host the special 20th anniversary event “Beni Museum Day,” featuring five unique experiences.
One of the highlights is the Guide Tour 200, celebrating not only the museum’s 20th anniversary but also Isehan’s 200th. The tour offers a deep dive into Edo-period beauty culture, allowing visitors to view and even try out historical cosmetic tools while receiving explanations from museum staff.
