The Fascinating Encounter of Bonito Flakes and Soft Serve Ice Cream The Last Chance to Indulge in the Trending “Katsubushi Soft Serve” Must Not Be Missed

Eitaro Sohonpo (Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo) is currently offering the limited-time sale of “Katsubushi Soft Serve,” supervised by Nippon Bonito Co., Ltd., at the Nihonbashi E-Chaya café located within Eitaro Sōhonzukuri Main Shop.

Established in 1699, Ninben Co., Ltd. has been developing and selling various products using bonito flakes and “dashi,” which is the foundation of Japanese cuisine, to uphold and preserve Japanese food culture. They provide opportunities to familiarize oneself with bonito flakes and dashi through experiential stores such as “Ninben Main Store” and dashi community specialty stores like “Nihonbashi Dashi-ba.” They also operate a Japanese dining establishment called “Nihonbashi Dashi-ba Hanare” and a specialty store for dashi-based side dishes known as “Ichijiru Shun-sai Nihonbashi Dashi-ba.”

On the other hand, Eitaro Sohonpo Main Shop, founded in 1818, began with the offering of traditional Japanese confections such as Kinko (gold foil) and Daifuku (sweet rice cakes) and has since expanded its range of confectionery. They have maintained their unchanged philosophy since their establishment and continue to generate new trends by constantly showcasing innovative ideas.

Through the collaboration of both companies, the “Katsubushi Soft Serve” that debuted last year combines soft serve ice cream made with Hokkaido Nekkoro Milk with Nippon Bonito’s finely shaved “Kiwami Hosoi Ito-katsuo” bonito flakes as a topping. It is further enhanced with the addition of “Honkarebushi Katsuo Shio” (dried bonito salt) and “Mitsuame Yu-heito” (brown sugar syrup), resulting in a uniquely delicious sweet and savory flavor.
It is an unexpected combination, but the exquisite saltiness of the “Katsubushi Soft Serve” enhances the creamy milkiness of the soft serve ice cream, creating a lingering and unique flavor. With attention to visual appeal as well, its attractive appearance adds to its charm.

The limited time to savor this exceptional masterpiece, where the traditions of a long-established store harmoniously blend with innovative ideas, is until June 15th (Thursday). With only a few days left, why not take this opportunity to experience it for yourself?
