[Carré MOJI] Refresh Yourself Japan Style at the Summer Exhibition: Beautiful Scenery through Sumi Ink

As Tokyo’s relentless summer heat blazes on, why not take a moment to refresh yourself through the art of calligraphy?

From the desire to share “a comfortable space with characters” with the world, Carré MOJI champions the traditional art and culture of Japanese calligraphy, reimagining it as interior art fit for contemporary spaces. Its new Summer Exhibition: Beautiful Scenery through Sumi Ink, is currently being held at the Carré MOJI Gallery in Shibuya’s Jingumae until Saturday, August 31, 2024.

The highlight of the exhibition is the Tokyo Series, presenting Tokyo’s landmarks expressed through the unique sensibilities of calligraphers. With a theme of “Sharing Tokyo’s Charm with the World,” the collection’s captivating works embody the stories of Tokyo’s diverse areas.

The collaboration pieces with noren curtains by specialist maker Nakumura, another company that is part of the Edo Tokyo Kirari Project. These collaborative works seamlessly blend the ancient arts of calligraphy and noren with modern interior design, bringing a sense of refreshing cool to serene, contemporary spaces.
