【Carré MOJI】Tokyo Cityscapes in Calligraphy: A “Dialogue Beyond Words” in Ginza

Carré MOJI, a gallery and production company that proposes traditional calligraphy as interior art, presents the exhibition “Dialogue Beyond Words,” to be held at the WABI Gallery in Tokyo’s Ginza from Wednesday, December 4 to Sunday, December 8, 2024.

The centerpiece of the exhibition is the “Carré MOJI Tokyo Hyakkei” (“Tokyo Series”) of calligraphy artworks inspired by Tokyo’s iconic places and cityscapes, such as Ginza, Shibuya, Roppongi, Ryogoku, Tokyo Skytree, and the Sumida River. Created as part of the Edo Tokyo Kirari Project, the series embodies the the project’s concept of “From Tokyo to the World.” Each artwork is designed to resonate with personal memories of these places, enriching viewers’ perspectives on the city. Through the interplay between calligraphic lines and the beauty of empty space, the exhibition invites you to expand your imagination and find a sense of calm.

Complementing the artworks are lights crafted by Hiyoshiya, a longstanding Kyoto-based maker of traditional Japanese umbrellas. Made with handcrafted washi paper, the lights softly illuminate the venue, evoking an intimate serenity to heighten your artistic experience. Take a moment this December to escape the year-end rush and explore the calming, contemplative world of calligraphy.
