From Thursday, June 6 to Sunday, June 16, 2024, the exhibition “AMAZING EDO TOKYO: Tokyo Treasures for the Future,” will be held at Ginza’s well-known Seiko House, featuring businesses participating in the Edo Tokyo Kirari Project.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to view and purchase traditional craft products from the Edo Tokyo Kirari Project’s model businesses, which have refined traditional techniques with a modern twist for future generations.
With workshops also held during the exhibition for visitors to experience the traditions of Edo Tokyo, we hope you will join us!

1.KumikoCoaster Making

Edo Kumiko Tatematsu, dedicated to traditional craftmanship and delicate handiwork, invite you to experience a coaster-making workshop. Participants will assemble finely cut wood pieces into a traditional hemp leaf pattern.

Takahashi Kobo, a workshop with a 160-year history in woodblock printing, presents a hands-on Edo woodblock printing seminar, followed by a workshop on making traditionalgoshugidecorative gift envelopes.

3.KumihimoBracelet and Strap Making

Experiencekumihimo, the intricate art of braiding dyed threads, with Ryukobo, a traditionalkumihimomaker handling everything from thread making and dyeing to design and braiding. In this workshop, participants will be guided through two activities, outlined below, making their very own bracelet and strap to bring home.

①Traditionalkumihimobracelet making
Participants will use original plant-dyed silk threads to make their own bracelet.

②Strap making using a minimarudaibraiding stand
Participants will enjoy an easy introduction tokumihimo, using a miniaturemarudaibraiding stand to craft their own 17cmkumihimostrap.
