What went into the opening of the official website for your second brand, Ameya Eitaro?
There is a story in each piece. That is the “Ameyaeitaro” candy, which is the second brand of the Eitaro Main Shop.
For example, the lip gloss shaped candy “Sweet Lip.” You might think this is a new product idea, but behind this was a custom stretching from the Edo Period to the Meiji Era where people in the upper classes would buy umeboshi candy from the Eitaro Sohonpo as a souvenir from Tokyo for their favored geisha or maiko. It was popular among the Maikos (apprentice geisha) in Kyoto to melt the candy and apply it on their lips.
Such episodes will surely start exciting conversations between people when they check out the product. The official brand website that opened this year not only contains product information but also reports from regional staff who deliver the fruits which become the raw materials for the product.
“Ameya Eitaro” makes candy with a twist, using basic and simple ingredients like sugar and sweet syrups. However, candy is not the only thing that this brand is trying to expand on. How far can you expand a person’s soul in the short time that a candy melts in their mouth?
“Many people are avoiding going out right now. I hope they can use our candy as an item to improve their mood, even if just a little” (Kanie Koichi, New Product Development Department)
Let’s enjoy the love put into these candies made by a traditional shop which has granted joy to people for 160 years.
