Like a Scene from a Movie: New Store Opens in Marunouchi
A new store, “CLASSIC GENTLEMAN PORTER CLASSIC TOKYO MARUNOUCHI,” has opened near Tokyo Station, serving as the gateway to Tokyo travel. The term “Classic Gentleman” in the store name reflects the personality of Mr. Katsuyuki Yoshida, the Chairman of the Board of Porter Classic, who has deeply learned from distinguished gentlemen throughout history such as French entrepreneur Albert Kahn, ceramic artist Kanjiro Kawai, Indian political leader Mahatma Gandhi, and former French President Charles de Gaulle.
Describing Mr. Yoshida’s character, the term embodies qualities such as dignity, discernment, stubbornness, wit, humor, and cuteness. The aspiration behind this concept is to continue crafting items that resonate with individuals possessing these traits, aiming to bring joy to such people and create products that will be passed down through generations.
The store’s design, following the renewal of the Ginza flagship store last year, is the work of renowned global art director Yohei Taneda and Toho Eizo Bijutsu Co., Ltd. Stepping into the interior, inspired by passages found in European train stations, feels like entering a scene from a movie.
Combined with the location of Tokyo Station, the space allows visitors to fully experience the world of PORTER CLASSIC. Serving as the gateway to a journey where global art, culture, and history intersect, it’s a space worth exploring when visiting Tokyo Station during the year-end and New Year holidays.
