Ryukobo, a kumihimo (braided cord that was introduced to Japan during the Asuka period and is said to have developed in the Edo period as an auspicious item.)maker with 132 years’ history, combined traditional artisan techniques with a hybrid antibacterial-silk fiber in creating its new product, the “Kumihimo mask cord.”
The kumihimo mask cord uses 100% domestically produced silk and antibacterial threads produced by Mr. Takimoto, a young silkworm farmer in Ehime Prefecture. The threads are woven in fuji-yotsugumi, a braiding method passed down from the Nara period which is modeled after fuji, or wisteria flowers. The fuji-yotsugumi was chosen for its advantages of having excellent elasticity and a pleasant texture.

With the mask cord, unhook the mask from your ears and the mask will rest at your chest. You won’t need to worry about where to put your mask, leading to a comfortable mask-wearing lifestyle.
