[Eitaro Sohonpo] Nihonbashi Flagship Store: Founding Festival Event Now On Until 28th April

Eitaro Sohonpo celebrates its 203rd Anniversary on Wednesday 28th April 2021

In advance of Eitaro Sohonpo’s founding day, for three weeks from Wednesday 7th April, our Nihonbashi flagship store’s in-store café, “Nihonbashi E-Chaya”, is offering brand new products. Our popular “Nihonbashi Dorayaki” is available in new flavors that you will certainly want to try, such as the café-only “Deli-style Dorayaki”, with fillings like ham and cheese, and egg salad.

In addition, for the duration of the event, from Wednesday 7th April to Wednesday 28th April, customers who spend over ¥2,000 (including tax) in Eitaro’s flagship store and Nihonbashi E-Chaya, will receive a present of an umeboshi-candy or a black-candy mini-figure.

There’s going to be a new founding-festival event every week. We’d love to see you at our store and have youtry out our delicious treats!

【Event Overview (Sales Menu)】

Week One, starting Wednesday 7th April – on sale year-round

Nihonbashi Dorayaki (Ham and Cheese, Egg Salad, Red Bean Paste Full-Moon Mochi)/ ¥308 each, incl. tax (eat-in only)
A variety of rich ingredients is sandwiched between the dough, which is made using Hokkaido wheat. You can try out three flavors, all limited to Nihonbashi E-Chaya.

Week Two, Wednesday 14th April to Wednesday 21st April

Creative Sweets Set/¥1,000 incl. tax
Original Sweets produced by the first Eitaro, “Nadai Kintsuba”, “Amana Natto”, “Tama Dare”, and “Umeboshi Candy”. With this set, limited to a two-week run, you can try a little of each of these sweets on one plate, with a soft drink included in the price.

Week Three, Wednesday 21st April to Wednesday 28th April

Beginning in May, the following will be on sale every month, from the 21st to the 28th of each month.

Full Moon Mochi Rice Ball/¥270 incl. tax
A red bean rice ball made with Full Moon Mochi, containing the springiness of each grain of rice, and made with cowpeas rather than adzuki. Cowpeas have a hard skin that does not break even when boiled. This made them popular in old Edo as a bean for special occasions, and therefore they were used in auspicious red bean rice. Even nowadays, Eitaro is very particular about using cowpeas in its red bean rice.
