[Porter Classic] Flagship Ginza Store Re-opens with a Fresh View of the World

Porter Classic, which uses traditional techniques and materials mixed with modern methods and ideas to produce various fashion items, re-opened its flagship “Porter Classic Ginza” store in December 2022. Film art director Yohei Taneda and Toho Eizo Bijutsu expressed the world view of Porter Classic with the theme of a “traveling sailing ship.”

As soon as you open the heavy door, standing in the entrance of the store, you already feel like you’re inside a ship. The interior of the ship uses wood grain that makes you feel the passage of time, and includes “Katsu’s Room,” a work room for Porter Classic Chairman and “Captain” Katsuyuki Yoshida, a studio for seamstresses, and a “Porter Classic Cinema Lounge” private theater for the crew. As you move through each room, you can enjoy shopping for clothing, bags, and jewelry, etc., mixed with maps and steering wheels for navigation, or a sewing machine used by a seamstress, etc. Then, taking a break in the middle of shopping, staff guide you into Captain Katsu’s room, where, sitting on the bed is the Porter Classic masterpiece “Newton Bag,” with shoulder straps that use Showa Nishikawa’s “muatsu .”
Please come and experience and enjoy this traveling ship, with the background and world view of Porter Classic manufacturing scattered throughout.
